Bleeding hearts
I totally fell for an implicit challenge from Louise
“Oh, those are really hard to photograph” — I could have ignored the fairly obvious hidden message but no, I fell for it. And so this morning I took on the challenge of photographing these tiny little flowers growing a few inches above the ground. Out came the worn, tatty yoga mat and down I went onto my stomach together with my Pentax camera, light meter and grey card, complete with my best macro lens for the job: Pentax DA 35mm f:2.8 Macro Limited.
The light beside the garage was lovely though. It was open shade with some diffuse early sunlight reflecting from the walkway. All I had to do was ignore my elbows screaming insults at me while I framed up the most photogenic spray of blooms and got this shot.
Gear: Pentax K-3 mkIII, DA 35mm f:2.8 Macro Limited, at f:5.6, ISO 1600, 1/640th sec shutter.
I post-processed the shot in Lightroom Classic and used the Topaz Photo AI plugin to reduce the ISO noise and sharpen the blooms’ details.
